This book was a big disappointment to me because although the plot idea is good, the book's poor writing leaves it flat. The basic plot is about Trina and her sister Liza who have escaped extermination by The Regime. The Regime is trying to find anyone who was infected with a virus and killing them. They are also killing anyone who was infected and survived. We assume this is why the government is after Trina, who has a bounty on her head, although that idea is never developed. They meet up with Jake and his brother and then over time a number of different families who just happen to round out the group with the skills and talents they need.I applaud Klaproth for writing a novel. However, she does need to get a firmer grasp of the English language; full development characters; story arc; and building tension from scene to scene. She needs to learn what's important to keep and what to leave out in moving a story forward. I do not need to read an entire novel about how to move people, items and animals from room to room and place to place. Nor do I need to know how many horses, cows and chickens they have - over and over and over again. I don't believe how much knowledge and skills the high school kids have. Nor can I believe how many farms and houses there must be within range of their cave that can keep them so well supplied over a period of years. It is unrealistic. Solar panels and steel doors put up in a cave? Ovens and ice boxes? The amount of weaponry and ammunition they find is unbelievable. And knowledge of a cave that large would be known to anyone who knew the area, including animals and The Regime. Why do I know these details? Because that's what the novel was about. The details. An inventory of everything they gathered and how many times they moved it. Anything I learned about why they were in hiding came to me in one sentence shots. Everything you will get about the plot comes in the synopsis that gets you to buy the book. Once you read the synopsis, there is no need to purchase it, especially for $5.00. And watch out, or you will end up buying the first chapter for $3.00 and if it happens to capture you, you will buy it again with the rest of the book for $5.00.
The book is practically unreadable. A good grammarian is needed as well as a good line and copy editor. The author needs some lessons on writing a novel. And if I read "where" when the word "were" had to be used, I was going to rip my Kindle in two. Why did I finish the book? Out of respect for the fact that she wrote it and dared to publish it without anyone having the courtesy to help her edit it.

I liked the book. It moved along thickly and held my interest. I would recommend this book to anyone who liked science fiction or adventure type stories. Congratulations to a new author. I will be looking for more of her books to read.
I could not put it down! There were a lot of spelling and grammatical errors, but wow! I cannot wait for the next one in the series.
i enjoyed the idea of this book but was waiting for the love story to begin...it never did..at one point they were friends and next they were in love and engaged..moved alittle to quick for me plus i was confused at how they all got to where they were going so fast...would try another book by this author
I enjoyed reading this.
This a story of Trina & her little sister Liza, who have to learn to survive after the government infect everyone with an infectious virus. Along the way they meet up with Jake & his little brother Thomas. Together they hide away from "The Regime" who are intent on killing everyone that had the virus or contact with it.
They rescue Trina's Grandmother & a few other survivors & they build homes in a network of caves.
This is a very interesting story & scary that the government would do this.
Very easy to read & all the characters work really well together.
There are a few typos, but they didn't cause a problem.
Worth reading.
Wow! I just finished this book. I could not put it down. I love the story line. Made me think about if this could ever happen.
Great read. I will be reading more books from this author.
The overall concepts in this book were fairly interesting. However, that being said this book was almost unreadable to me. Quite a bit of it made little to no sense due to lack of editing and seemingly minimal understanding of the English language by the author. I read a lot of free books and can deal with some poor grammar and spelling, this book was a completely different story. On top of that, a lot of what I did understand became entirely too coincedental. The characters just conveniently located everything they ever needed and wanted with no problem. I read a lot of books (usually at least five a week) and thiswas the first time I've ever felt the need to review one, mainly because overall this book really did have potential but it was just buried under lack of editing and language skills.
The idea of the book was great. The story was even intriguing. However, the grammatical errors, the sentence structure, the wrong word usage was horrible. Or counting people and then name more people. I took a star away just for this. This book is in need of some serious editing. I'm glad I got it for free, otherwise I would be very upset right now. I took another star away because I couldn't grasp how easy everything was for the characters. There wasn't any real conflict. Everything seemed to work out fine. Some things were not realistic - like a 16-year-old girl pushing a cart with 4 - 100 lb propane tanks in it. Are you serious? Or one 17/18-year-old boy building a whole house underground by himself when he never did a hard day of labor in his life because he was wealthy. This book could be a great story if it was developed more.
